ABOUT

THE

WORKSHOPS

From 10th-14th and 17th-21st January 2022, The Taieri Dramatic Society are offering theatre enthusiasts from age 12 years to 102 the opportunity to take part in a bespoke theatrical event at the Fire Station Theatre.

Those wishing to take part will attend the theatre each afternoon for a week, where they will develop their performance skills under the guidance of our experienced tutors. The weeks work will culminate in a unique performance to an audience of family, friends and fellow theatre lovers. This will give participants the space and encouragement to tap into their creativity and build confidence on stage.

As a training space, the Fire Station Theatre seeks to nurture talent in the community and cultivate a passion for the arts, while encouraging social connections between like-minded people of all ages. So, if you are new to the scene, want to tap in to your dramatic potential, or just want to get out of the house a bit more, come along.

The workshops will be run by Taieri Dramatic Society veterans Jasmine Rixon, Sophia Griffiths, Tabitha Littlejohn and Zac Henry.

Over the past five years, they have each been adopted onto the theatre committee and have since been jumping into all aspects of theatre - from performance and backstage crewing to writing and directing.

During their time at the theatre, they have helped with the launch of the 48hr Theatre Challenge as well as being avid advocates of the societies youth theatre sector. Their experience first-hand of the personal growth that can spawn from theatre now leads them to want to inspire the next generation of creatives.
